How can arrive at this result? The preguiça post, to read the feed, nothing to do ... I started to play with KDE 4.0 and search for some programinhas lighter composite (all already know Beryl / Compiz / Compiz Fusion etc). KDE 4.0 does not need them because the very Kwin has support for composite and therefore allows all those effects, I found another programinha D, which allows some basic effects like transparency, called xcompmgr. He calmly made the composite and only this, instead of being trading window manager (things that Beryl / Compiz / Fusion do). The other program is the thought that transset that lets you choose the level of transparency. We will then make a joke?
First you need to go in the System Settings of KDE4 and disable the effects. This will close the composite but will continue with the Kwin as window manager. Already tested by changing the Kwin Openbox (same as I did with the Gnome when replaced by the Metacity Openbox) and was not very functional since the options of KDE 4.0 we had the right mouse button on the desktop ended up being exchanged for options the Openbox. So the schedule is just disable the effects and leave the running Kwin ![]()
Then install the xcompmgr and transset:
sudo apt-get install xcompmgr transset
Now just run xcompmgr (do not know how well this programinha, I will not explain in this post on options. Maybe next I do that ...):
xcompmgr &
Okz, now let's transparent using transset. It may seem strange, since the transset only option accepted as the value of transparency, that is, you can not put parameter in the program or window you want to make it transparent, that is, so you call the transset, the mouse cursor on your will change and the window that you can become transparent. 0 leaves fully transparent and 1 leaves without any transparency. We will have 0.5, or 50% of transparency:
transset 0.5
Prontinho now, if everything went well (and went, of course), the cursor on your mouse has changed. Just click on top of the bar of KDE 4.0.
Voilà! We Chatinho transparency in the bar ... to do this? Not Facinho ...! This is annoying to have to do this cliquezinho every time you enter the KDE ... But reading went around that there is also the transset-df, which accepts parameters and has more options (but it has not yet tested).

Bar Plasma KDE 4 transparent in Ubuntu "Terramel
KDE 4 was officially launched Friday, but many things are still not fully configurable. Land arranged a way to leave the bar on "plasma" KDE 4.0 transparent. See the screenshot and learn how you too; D
Indeed such transparency was made half in the car, because this all transparent, ie icons, clock too. Maybe we should wait for more options to own kde (how long?). But it is a solution.
thanks
Failed to use the options in the kde openbox? But starting the openbox-kde-session? Weird. Only if the new kde.
Mozão, I wanted a new cd of ubuntu

nice guy that this trick, the more I spent the whole day and fuses in kde4 I think I will wait until the 4.1 for change
Leaving the bar KDE is transparent is ultra easy, simply change the SVG theme of the bar and put an SVG with transparency. I believe that later will be much easier to change the subject from all KDE, if we simply change the subject from plasma.
